William Creel
on October 8, 2012The tall gentleman on the right is Monty Stratton, professional baseball pitcher that lost a leg in a hunting accident, ending his career. He owned a farm outside of Greenville named "Bluebird Farm". This must be a photo taken at the Courthouse during the world premier of the movie about Mr. Stratton. I believe the lady on the left is June Allison who played his wife in the movie. I watched the parade from the second floor of the Woolworth Five & Dime store on the corner of Lee and Stonewall.
My Grandfather, W.R. Creel, came to Greenville in 1890 with the family of Thomas Jefferson Creel. W.R. eventually married Neva Crenshaw from Tenneessee. We lived on Texas St. and I left when I enrolled in North Texas State College and never moved back.
